It is located in the heart of Namibia’s bush encroachment zone. “Makarra Bush Products cc” adds value to Namibian-produced charcoal by purchasing bulk charcoal directly from local producers, sifting and grading it, and packaging it to customer specifications according to strict standards. The company then exports the charcoal to international markets. As Namibia is the 5th largest exporter of charcoal, “Makarra Bush Products cc” plays a major role in the industry, contributing to exports and foreign revenue earnings.

About Makarra Bush Products cc
All our lump charcoal is made from invader bush (hardwood acacia species) with a fixed carbon content in accordance with DIN standards. We source raw materials from Namibian farmers who produce sustainable, FSC-certified charcoal under BSCI social compliance standards. Independent audits (by Earthworm and WWF) annually assess the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the production chain.
We are proud members of the Charcoal Association of Namibia (CAoN). Charcoal is produced on-site at farms and delivered to Makarra Bush Products cc for inspection, screening, and grading before packaging. Bags are packed on slip sheets (e.g. EU and UK pallets) and shrink-wrapped for easy container loading, off-loading, and retail display. Containers are transported by truck to Walvis Bay, Namibia’s closest international port, for global shipment.
We also specialise in client-specific packaging, using customer-branded bags and ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality charcoal.
We take pride in our contribution to the Namibian economy — creating over 120 direct jobs (mostly for women) and around 1,000 indirect jobs. Our commitment to environmentally sustainable charcoal production supports both the socio-economic and natural environment.
