At Makarra Bush Products cc, we take pride in producing premium charcoal that is sustainably sourced and environmentally responsible. Our charcoal is made exclusively from invader bush – an overgrown and problematic plant species that has taken over vast areas of grazing land in Namibia. By using only this invasive vegetation, we ensure that no tropical hardwoods, protected tree species, or wood that could be used for other essential purposes is ever harvested or processed.
The invader bush itself consists of naturally dense hardwoods, which produce high-quality charcoal known for its excellent performance. Our charcoal burns hotter and longer, thanks to its high calorific value. It also produces minimal sparks and leaves behind very little ash, making it an ideal choice for both domestic and commercial use. Through this sustainable approach, we contribute to environmental restoration while delivering a superior product to our customers.
Our charcoal is available in two different grain sizes:
20–60mm, ideal for barbecues
60mm and larger, suitable for general use
For restaurants, we offer a premium-grade charcoal with an average grain size of over 60mm, perfect for professional grilling.

Our Charcoal Briquettes
We maximize resource efficiency by converting charcoal dust and small charcoal pieces (under 20mm) into charcoal briquettes. These briquettes:
- Burn at high temperatures
- Have a longer burning time than regular charcoal
- Produce minimal ash for easy grill cleaning
Additionally, the remaining fine charcoal is repurposed for cement production, ensuring no material goes to waste.
